Yes, but agroforestry can also mean high tree cover when no crops are in the field and low tree cover in the cropping season in line with real alley cropping methods developed by International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. In Kenya I in addition developed methods increasing the possibilities for this, based on low-cost direct seeding methods, and management of tree-legume hedges by stripping leaves off with a forked branch, partial breaking and turning young stems, or bending and twisting them together at least when needed. This enable production of good sustainable fuel wood (and tree seeds) between crops, while capturing carbon in roots and soil mainly.
